UTPB's Palermo Named LSC Hitter of the Week

ODESSA - After a monster week at the plate, Skyler Palermo was named Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week the conference announced Tuesday.

Palermo was a one man wrecking crew this weekend for the Falcons against Tarleton State hitting .615 with a 1.231 slugging percentage. On Friday, the senior's first home run of the season cut into a three-run deficit. He would double in the sixth inning and score the tying run. Palermo would score once more as insurance in the eighth inning in the 7-4 win, the first in program history over the Texans. He stayed red-hot on Saturday with three doubles in two games. In the second game of the double header, Palermo went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and scored a run. In Sunday's 16-3 win, he would add another double while driving in a pair of runs. He raised his season average nearly .100 points with six extra base hits. Palermo finished the weekend with 16 total bases and five RBI.

The Falcons are coming off a weekend split with the Texans including Sunday's 16-3 blowout win. UTPB is back in action this weekend at Angelo State as they officially enter conference play.
