Big Spring -- Earlier today, Big Spring ISD announced Cannon McWilliams as the new head football coach.

McWilliams will be the fourth head play caller for the Steers in the last five years. He is also the son of Superintendent Jay McWilliams.

Last season, the Steers went 3-9, winning in the bi-district round of the playoffs; their first playoff win since 2012.

McWilliams will also serve as the district's strength and conditioning coach.

The first year head coach replaces Mitch McLemore who was reassigned to the Big Spring Intermediate campus where he will serve as an administrator.
