According to Greenwood ISD Superintendent Ariel Elliott, Greenwood alum Rusty Purser will be named the next Ranger AD/HFC.

Purser, the son of longtime Ranger head football coach Bob Purser, was reassigned by his old school, Taylor ISD, last month.

In his 7 seasons with the Ducks Purser complied a 32-47 record. As head coach of the 4A school, the Ducks made seven consecutive playoff appearances, won two bi-district titles and captured their first district championship since 1994.

in 2018, Talyor went 4-7 and lost in the bi-district round 55-0 to Sealy, but had back to back winning season in 2016 & 2017.

Prior to Taylor, Purser coached at Borger ISD and Midland Lee.

The former Ranger replaces Jared Sanderson, who left Greenwood to move closer to family and take a job outside of education.

In his two season with the Rangers, Sanderson went 16-9 leading Greenwood to its first trip to the third round of the playoffs since 2012.
