CANYON - UT Permian Basin baseball’s season ended Thursday in the Lone Star Conference Championships, falling to Cameron 9-0 in the first round of the playoffs.

The Aggies jumped out to an early lead on the Falcons (20-29) scoring twice in the first. They’d add four more in the second and two in the third to push the lead to 8-0. The Falcon offense had their best opportunity on the afternoon in the fourth.

Senior Tylor Frailey picked up his second single of the game to start the inning. Fellow senior William Bierlein moved him to second on a base hit to left putting a pair on with one-out. Tyler Vlasek worked a two-out walk with an eight-pitch at bat to load the bases. The threat ended when Jonathan Bermudez lined out to left to end the inning.

Reliever Nick Bartley was brilliant out of the bullpen throwing 2.2 innings, striking out three. He was followed by Clay Thompson, Matt Williams and Cale Thornton allowing just one unearned run in the final three innings. The Falcons made noise in the ninth when Peyton Koopman singled with one out. Vlasek followed with a single but that’s all the Falcons would get in the 9-0 final.

Frailey and Vlasek had two hits a piece with Skyler Palermo, Bierlein and Koopman having a hit a piece. The Falcon bullpen combined for 7.1 innings giving up just two earned runs, striking out five.
