Big Spring Head Football Coach Mitch McLemore reassigned within district

BIG SPRING - According to Big Spring Superintendent Jay McWilliams, Steer head football coach and athletic director, Mitch McLemore, has been reassigned to the Big Spring Intermediate campus where he will serve as an administrator.

Big Spring High School Principal Mike Ritchey will serve as the Big Spring ISD Interim Athletic Director while the Central Office administration thoroughly evaluates how it should address the need for an Athletic Director and Head Football Coach

In his 2 years with the Steers, McLemore was 3-19 with a bi-district round win this past season over Clint. It was there first playoff win since 2014.

Superintendent Jay McWilliams provided the following statement on McLemore, stating "The district is grateful to coach McLemore for his contributions to our school district, our students, and to the greater community, and we look forward to benefitting from his service in his new role.'

The position has been posted on the district website and the district will look to fill the role, with the right candidate, as soon as possible.
