Police: Man stabbed girlfriend several times following argument

ODESSA -- Police say that a man who was violating a protective order stabbed his girlfriend several times following an argument.

Raymond Harris, 20, has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family Violence), a 1st Degree Felony, and Violation of a Protective Order, a 3rd Degree Felony.

On Thursday officers with the Odessa Police Department responded to the Dixie Square Apartments for a call of a stabbing.

When police arrived on scene they found that a girl had been stabbed several times. She was then taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to OPD, an investigation of the stabbing revealed that the victim had been followed to her apartment by her boyfriend, identified as Harris.

After the two got into an argument police say Harris stabbed the victim several times in the neck, chest, and stomach.

Harris left the scene but was found by officers and taken into custody. There he was interviewed by a detective and admitted to the stabbing.

Police then learned that Harris had been previously arrested on January 26 for reportedly assaulting his girlfriend. An emergency protective order had been placed against him after that arrest.

Harris was then charged and arrested accordingly.
