ODESSA, Tx. (OA Online) -- A 50-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday after she reportedly posed as a healthcare employee to steal medication prescriptions and took pillows from a senior living center.
Blanca Isella Zavala was charged with 10 counts of a burglary of habitation, a second-degree felony.
Nine of 10 burglary charges happened Nov. 13, 2017, at Manor Crest Apartments, an Odessa Police Department affidavit detailed.
Zavala reportedly identified herself as a StarCare employee that checked on 75-year-old Juanita Baldree’s medications. The manager of the apartment complex videotaped Zavala through her license plate.
Zavala isn’t a healthcare worker and entered and obtained Baldree’s information under false pretense as she represented herself as a StarCare employee, the affidavit stated.
Zavala reportedly wrote down the medication prescriptions of Baldree. Each prescription has Baldree’s date of birth, name and RX numbers. Zavala also reportedly stole a bottle of Tramadol with Baldree’s identifying information.
The final burglary charge happened 11:29 a.m. Jan. 15 at the Courtyard Assisted Living and Memory Care, an OPD affidavit stated.
Zavala was seen on surveillance video entering a room which belonged to AC Norrell and was seen stealing two pillows. Zavala was reportedly seen on video exiting Norrell’s room with the pillows in her hands.
Zavala was arrested, charged and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. She has 10 bonds totaling $455,000 and was still in custody as of Wednesday morning, jail records show.
