Two people arrested following shots fired call in Big Spring

BIG SPRING -- A man and woman are facing several charges after police were called to a shots fired call on Thursday.

Miranda Arenivas, 25, has been charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Darius Murphy, 34, has been charged with Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport, Tampering/Fabricating Physical Evidence and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

According to the Big Spring Police Department, their officers were called to the intersection of 13th and South Runnels Street at 5:28 p.m. for a report of shots being fired.

When police arrived they found a vehicle that they believed may have been involved and pulled it over along East FM 700.

It was then that police found the vehicle had been reported as stolen and officers found evidence that it had been shot at.

Police spoke with two people inside the car, Arenivas and Murphy who were reportedly uncooperative with the investigation into the shooting. They were then charged and arrested accordingly.

Mugshots for Arenivas and Murphy were not released.
