The sheriff’s office arrested boys aged 12, 13 and 15 and is charging all of them with aggravated robbery.
Maysa’s Tortilla Owner Osvelia Nunez was getting ready to close up shop Tuesday evening when she said a tall young man in a blue mask stepped inside and took out a gun.
“Then he told me to open the cash register and he got the change that I had in there,” Nunez said. “He asked where is the rest of the money and I said I didn’t have any.”
Nunez explained she had already emptied that day’s earnings from the register, so the robber only got away with about $100.
She said the robber was angry there wasn’t more cash and his hands were shaking nervously.
“He looked nervous and that’s why I was afraid of him shooting me,” she said.
Deputies report while they were investigating the Maysa’s Tortilla robbery, the group struck again down the street at El West Depot.
There, deputies say a boy wearing a blue mask was walking up to the storefront when the owner spotted him and slammed the metal gate shut before he could get in.
The report said the would-be robber turned tail and sped away with a group waiting in the car.
Later that night, deputies say the Kent Kwik on North County Road West was robbed, this time by three people.
According to deputies the three used a pistol to steal money from the register along with other items from the store.
Odessa police officers and Ector County deputies found that group of boys later that night driving what they say was a stolen car.
After a short pursuit, deputies say the boys ran from the car but were soon caught.
The mugshots and identities of these three boys have not been released because all three of them are minors.
