Suspect identified following standoff in Odessa

ODESSA -- UPDATE: Police have identified the suspect in Tuesday morning's standoff.

Wayne Alan Slay, 37, is charged with the following warrants: Assault on a Public Servant - Failure to Appear, 3rd Degree Felony, Resisting Arrest - Going off Bond, Class A Misdemeanor, Assault Causing Bodily Injury (Family Violence) Class A Misdemeanor, and Driving While Intoxicated - Failure to Appear Class B Misdemeanor.

A suspect was taken into custody following a standoff with police Tuesday morning in Odessa.

According to the Odessa Police Department, officers responded to the 1600 block of 36th Street around 5:30 a.m. for a drug investigation.

The investigation then turned into a standoff, with both OPD SWAT and a robot being called to the scene.

The suspect was then arrested and taken into custody at approximately 8:05 a.m.

While the suspect has not been identified at this time police say he is facing charges including Assault of a Public Servant, Aggravated Assault, Driving While Intoxicated, and Evading Arrest.
