Suspect arrested in connection to deadly Odessa shooting

ODESSA -- A suspect has been arrested by police along with the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and Ector County Sheriff's Office in connection to a shooting that left one person dead in Odessa.

According to the Odessa Police Department, 25-year-old Nathon Gaytan was arrested Friday evening without incident on the 300 block of west 48th street.

Gaytan is charged with Murder in the shooting death of Kyle Armer, 27 early Thursday morning.

On Thursday morning, police responded to a call of a gunshot victim in the parking lot of T&T Donuts.

When police arrived on scene they found a victim dead inside of a truck and met with a 23-year-old woman.

The woman told police that she and Armer were sitting in a pickup truck in the parking lot of T&T Donuts when a suspect fired several shots in Armer's direction, striking him multiple times.

The suspect then approached the woman and fired shots before fleeing the scene. According to OPD, she was not injured.

Through the course of the investigation police identified Gaytan as the suspect and obtained warrants for him.
