ECTOR COUNTY -- A man is in custody after authorities say he led deputies on a chase and resisted arrest in West Odessa on Friday.

Logan Herdon, 25, has been charged with Evading in a Motor Vehicle and Resisting Arrest.

According to the Ector County Sheriff's Office, one of their deputies tried to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation around 1:17 p.m. on Friday when the driver began a chase that ended up lasting 10 minutes.

The driver, identified as Herdon, had reportedly been involved in a hit-and-run crash that had just happened three minutes earlier in the county.

Herdon stopped near the intersection of Cavalry Street and Knox Avenue and began running on foot in an open field before he climbed into a water tank.

The sheriff's office says that Herdon refused to comply with their orders and deputies were forced to use pepper spray, bean bags and a taser to take him into custody.

Herdon was then taken to Medical Center Hospital for treatment. A mugshot was not immediately available.
