WINKLER COUNTY, Tx. (KOSA) -- A man has been arrested after authorities say he led deputies on a chase that involved a bike on Tuesday night.
William Casteel, 18, has been charged with Burglary of a Habitation (Warrant), a 2nd Degree Felony, and Evading Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor.
According to the Winkler County Sheriff's Office, their deputies were on patrol in the Kermit city limits around 11 p.m. on Tuesday when they saw a man on a bicycle who wasn't wearing lighting equipment.
The deputies then turned on their lights for a traffic stop but the man reportedly began to evade on his bike.
The suspect eventually abandoned the bike and ran on foot before he was caught in the backyard of a home.
The suspect was then identified as Casteel. According to the sheriff's office, a search found that Casteel had two syringes in his possession. Casteel allegedly told the deputies that one of the syringes contained methamphetamine.
Casteel was then arrested and taken to the Winkler County Jail.
