Remembering the times George H.W. Bush made us laugh

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - Soldier, Statesman, Gentleman and honorary Aggie. George H.W. Bush was more than just the 41st President of the United States.

He succeeded in most everything he did, even playing in the first two college baseball world series games. Bush had no problem admitting to one interviewer that he was a better glove than batter.

"You once told me one of your better days was a three for five performance against a North Carolina State team," said the interviewer to Bush.

He responded, "That was probably the only time I went three for five."

While he may have been the leader of the free world for a time, he knew exactly where he stood in his marriage to Barbara. He shared this story about a sledding accident at Camp David.

"I remember yelling at her 'bail out, bail out' and she broke her leg. And I was caught laughing, and that did not go over too well with Barbara," Bush said.

He connected well with the people that worked for and with him.

"Marlin's going through a bit of a downer because the Iraqi spokesman has the matching tie and hanky you know," Bush said.

After losing his re-election bid for president in 1992, he took it in stride, putting his focus towards his library.

Bush once said, "Barbara says you can't keep a job, so the library is the next one."
