Three teenagers have been arrested and charged for a hit and run crash that killed an 11-year-old girl this morning.

Midland Police report around 7:30 a.m. Friday morning, a white truck ran a stop sign and crashed into this red ford sending both of them into a home.

“Yeah you could definitely hear it,” Larry Wright said. “It shook the windows so bad. When you hear the sound, you know exactly what it is. So, I jumped up and ran outside.”

The wreck was catastrophic.

Police said the 11-year-old inside the red car died at the scene and her mother is now in the hospital with life threatening injuries.

“Well that’s concerning, no one wants to hear, especially a child,” Wright said. “That kind of hurts at the heart.”

Police said that white truck was being driven by three teenage boys who had stolen the truck just minutes earlier on the 1000 block of Upland after the car owner left it running in the driveway to heat up.

After the wreck, investigators said they ran away on foot.

Police said one of the boys then stole another car, this time a black Dodge Charger, on the 3700 block of Roosevelt and wrecked it on Douglas and Alpine within the hour.

Officers followed that teen when he yet again ran on foot and tracked him to an apartment complex on the 1100 block of Midkiff where they found the two other suspected teens.

Several charges were levied against those boys including murder, unauthorized use of motor vehicles, fleeing a crash scene and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Erin Bailey with the City of Midland tells CBS7 that a suspect driving a stolen vehicle ran a stop sign and hit another vehicle.

Three of the suspects inside the stolen vehicle took off from the scene on foot.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. But the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
