Suspect charged following deadly motorcycle crash in Odessa

UPDATE: A suspect has been arrested in connection to a deadly motorcycle crash in Odessa overnight.

Edgar Jesus Ibarra, 23, has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter, a 2nd Degree Felony.

The victim in the crash has been identified as 32-year-old Nau Ulate.

According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers were called out to the 2400 block of East 2nd Street at 1:45 a.m. for a major crash involving a motorcycle.

When police arrived at the scene they found a crash involving a Yamaha motorcycle and a Chevrolet Tahoe.

The motorcyclist, identified as Ulate, passed away at the scene. The driver of the Tahoe was identified as Ibarra.

An investigation of the crash revealed that Ulate was traveling eastbound on 2nd Street at a high rate of speed when he lost control and laid down in the roadway.

Police say that Ibarra, who was also traveling eastbound, ran over Ulate.

According to OPD, their investigation revealed that Ibarra was intoxicated at the time and he was charged and arrested.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.


The Odessa Police Department is currently investigating a deadly motorcycle crash at E 8th Street and Highway 80.

Police say that it is a fatal crash, but no other information was released.

At least one person is dead, no word on injuries.

Police have both eastbound and westbound lanes on Highway 80 (Between Dale & 8th Street) shut down. You're urged to avoid this area and find an alternative route.
