MIDLAND -- A man is dead after police say he tried to rob a Midland restaurant and was killed in a shootout.
According to the Midland Police Department, their officers were called to the 1600 block of South Main Street around 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning for a report of an attempted robbery.
When police arrived at the scene they spoke with the manager who said that a man had tried to rob the La Loncheria restaurant.
The suspect had reportedly shot at the manager, but the manager returned fire and was able to shoot the suspect.
The manager tells CBS7 that the suspect never asked for money, but instead walked around the counter and pulled out a gun.
