Odessa woman arrested for attempting to light boyfriend on fire
An affidavit from the Odessa Police Department stated that a 30-year-old woman attempted to light her boyfriend on fire after mixing lighter fluid in a bottle of lotion on the evening Tuesday, March 5th.
According to our partners at the Odessa American, the woman, Regina Martinez was arrested and charged Tuesday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, as well as a warrant out of Midland County for criminal mischief of more than $750 but less than $2,500, a class A misdemeanor.
Her boyfriend, Richard Button, stated that he rubbed the lotion mixed with the lighter fluid on himself, unbeknownst that Martinez had mixed the two earlier. He stated that Martinez lit a piece of paper with a lighter and proceeded to throw it at him in an attempt to light him on fire as he was sitting in his truck.
Martinez was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center with two bonds totaling $52,500.
