Odessa man accused of assault with watermelon

An Odessa man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting his wife with a watermelon.
Michael Bowlen, 40, has been charged and arrested for two counts of Assault Family Violence with a Prior Conviction, a 3rd Degree Felony.
According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers responded to a home in the 5300 block of Clinton on Friday for a call of a disturbance.
When police arrived on scene they found a man, identified as Bowlen, walking south.
An investigation revealed that following a disturbance, Bowlen jabbed her torso with a watermelon causing injury, according to OPD. He then allegedly punched his brother-in-law in the head.
Police learned that Bowlen had a previous conviction for family assault violence.
Bowlen was then charged and arrested accordingly.
