ODESSA -- An Odessa man has been arrested following a crash that sent two people to the hospital over the weekend.

Guadalupe Marquez, 41, has been charged with Intoxication Assault, a 3rd Degree Felony.

On the morning of Saturday, December 29 Odessa police were called to a crash at I-20 and Grandview.

When police arrived at the scene they found a crash involving a Jeep and a GMC pickup.

The driver of the pickup, 58-year-old Steven Marshall of Arizona was taken to Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The passenger of the Jeep, 35-year-old Sandra Benavidez of Odessa was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An investigation of the crash revealed that the Jeep, driven by Marquez, was traveling southbound on Meadow as Marshall was driving west on I-20.

Police say that Marquez failed to stop at the stop sign on the north service road and drove through the median where they crashed into the pickup.

According to OPD, the crash caused the Jeep to roll on its side and Benavidez was ejected.

Police say that further investigation of the crash revealed that Marquez was intoxicated at the time of the crash. A warrant was obtained and Marquez was arrested on Thursday afternoon.
