Police identify Midland man killed in Odessa crash

ODESSA, Tx. (KOSA) -- 1:30 p.m. Update: New details have been released on Thursday's deadly crash.

The victim in the crash has been identified as 26-year-old Oscar Pena Jr. of Midland.

According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers were called to IH-20 and Grant at 2:46 a.m. for a report of a major crash.

When police arrived at the scene they found an accident involving a Chevrolet truck and a Chrysler 300.

The driver of the truck, Pena, passed away at the scene. The driver of the Chrysler was not hurt in the crash.

An investigation of the crash revealed that both vehicles were traveling eastbound on IH-20.

Police say that Pena was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control before he crashed into a barrier and rolled.

The driver of the Chrysler tried to avoid the crash and hit a guard rail post.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

The Odessa Police Department is investigating a deadly crash on Thursday morning.

According to police, the crash happened at IH-20 & Grant. The eastbound lanes of the interstate are currently shut down.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternative routes until further advised.
