Officer released from the hospital following officer-involved shooting in Odessa

ODESSA, Tx (KOSA) -- The Texas Rangers are investigating a shooting that sent an officer and a man to the hospital on Wednesday morning.

According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers were called to the intersection of South Sam Houston and Mable Street for a report of shots fired.

When police arrived they saw a man standing in a driveway. Police say the man immediately began shooting at the officers and the officers returned fire.

The suspect and one of the officers were shot during the shootout. Both were taken to Medical Center Hospital for treatment.

The officer has since been released from the hospital. The suspect is being treated for serious injuries.

All three officers who were involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave as Texas Rangers take over the investigation.
