Police: Man dies after being shot in Odessa carjacking

ODESSA -- We're learning more details on a murder that happened in Odessa overnight.

According to the Odessa Police Department, 26-year-old Ryan Stebbins was shot by a suspect who was trying to steal his car.

Police found Stebbins in the 2200 block of Richmond Street with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Stebbins was taken to the hospital where he passed away.

Officers were able to locate Stebbins' vehicle in the 4300 block of Westcliff.

No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Odessa Police Department or Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.

Odessa police are investigating a deadly shooting that left one person dead on Thursday.

According to OPD, their officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 2200 block of Richmond Street just before 1 a.m.

When police arrived at the scene they found that one person had been shot. The victim was taken to the hospital where they passed away from their injuries.

The victim has not been identified at this time.
