Police: Suspect scammed victim out of $15,000

ODESSA, Tx. (KOSA) -- The Odessa Police Department is searching for a suspect who they say scammed a victim out of $15,000.

According to Odessa police, the theft was reported on April 12.

The victim told police that he met a black male who asked for a ride to McDonald's.

The suspect told the victim that he was from South Africa and had just inherited money from his brother, but that he needed to know that he could trust the victim.

The suspect then told him to withdraw $15,000 from the bank. Once the victim complied the suspect reportedly took the money and left.
