No one hurt after rig catches on fire in Howard County

No one was hurt when a rig caught on fire north of Big Spring Monday morning.

According to Howard County Volunteer Fire Chief Mitchell Hooper, their firefighters were called out to a rig fire at County Road 50 and County Road 19 several miles north of Big Spring around 8:40 a.m.

Once firefighters arrived additional help was requested and crews from Lamesa brought in water while personnel from Martin County came in to assist in putting the fire out.

The fire was extinguished as of 12:43 p.m. No injuries were reported at the scene.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
