Mother and children in teetering car rescued by bystanders

SAN ANGELO -- A San Angelo family was saved after their car left the roadway and was hanging over the side of an embankment.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, their officers were called around 7 a.m. about a car dangling from an embankment near an overpass.

When police arrived at the scene they found a mother and her two children safe outside of the vehicle.

Officers were then told that several men stopped and worked together to tether the woman's car to one of their trucks to allow for a safe rescue.

The following men are credited with helping the family: Reid Myers, Jacob Rodriguez, Paul Guevarra, Pattrick Davidson, Adrian Martinez, Julio Vasquez, and Marco Vasquez.

An investigation of the accident revealed that the woman had to swerve to avoid crashing into a red pickup truck which caused her to leave the roadway.
