MIDLAND -- A Goddard Junior High student was arrested on Monday after the school district says they brought a gun onto campus.
According to Midland ISD, on Monday afternoon Midland Crime Stoppers shared a tip with MISD Police about a student at the school with a handgun.
The school was placed on lockdown while district police found the student and the gun. The lockdown lasted for around 30 minutes.
The student has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon in a weapon-free zone and possession of a stolen weapon.
"Student safety is a top priority, and we thank our campus officers and administrators for handling the situation swiftly and effectively. We also thank Crime Stoppers and the person who reported the incident quickly to law enforcement," stated the district in a release.
