MCH board approves name change of VA Clinic

ODESSA -- On Tuesday night Medical Center Health Systems board members discussed the renaming of the VA Clinic at the Center for Health and Wellness after two Medal of Honor recipients from Odessa.

A representative from the Military Order of the Purple Heart and classmates of Mac Wilson and Rex Young were in attendance at the meeting.

MCH President and CEO Rick Napper met with the groups who wanted to see the VA Center located on Faudree Road named after the duo.

Wilson and Young were both killed in Vietnam within six months of each other and were awarded the Medal of Honor for Heroism 13 days apart.

"We've worked with the Boy Scouts, we've worked with local community members, we're very proud of those that serve from this community and serve our country, even to the point of giving their lives. These two gentlemen did that in a way that the military recognized them with the highest honor in the United States military," said Napper.

The hospital board voted unanimously for the change.

Classmates of Wilson and Young will raise money for new signs at the VA Center.
