MIDLAND -- Midland County Republican Women got a special visitor Wednesday.

Heidi Cruz, wife of Texas Senator Ted Cruz, visited midland for a private luncheon and speech ahead of the midterm elections.

Before Heidi Cruz spoke to Midland County Republican Women members in a private luncheon, she expressed support for her husband’s senate campaign.

Recent polls indicate a tight race between Republican Incumbent Ted Cruz and Democratic Challenger Beto O’Rourke.

However, Heidi Cruz said her husband is up to challenge.

“Ted’s a fighter,” she said. “Ted enjoys the debate. He loves making the argument and his 2012 race was an uphill battle. Ted’s used to tough races and he’s gonna, he’s gonna win in November. We know how to win tough races.”

She also backed ted’s support for Justice Brett Kavanaugh whose confirmation into the Supreme Court also came down to a narrow vote.

“I was thrilled with the overall decision because I think it made the other side look really bad.”

Heidi Cruz said it’s sad democrats tried to destroy the Supreme Court nominee with accusations that couldn’t be proven.

She said the accusations were hurtful to the Kavanaugh family.

“We know the Kavanaugh’s they’re dear friends of ours and this has been very hard for them," she said. "If it were true that would be one thing, but to go through this and it’s not true is just inexcusable. And I think it will have big implications for the democrat side.”

Midterm elections are set for Nov. 6 and early voting starts Oct. 22.
