Governor Greg Abbott waives STAAR testing requirements for the school year

Governor Greg Abbott has announced that he is waiving STAAR testing requirements for the 2019-2020 school year.

"I have eliminated the STAAR testing requirements for this school year.

We must empower schools to focus on the health of their students, teachers and families," Governor Abbott said in a tweet.

Governor Abbott has also requested that federal testing requirements be waived for the school year.

Governor Greg Abbott has officially announced that the STAAR exam requirement will be waived this school year. On behalf of students, teachers and parents across Texas, I want to thank Gov. Abbott!
