Marj Carpenter was a big spring herald reporter from 1970 to 1978, and has incredible stories to tell from her time there.
One time when she was sharing her address, Carpenter was explaining her city was famous for their one big spring, and that's how the wrote it down: Marj Carpenter, one Big Spring, Texas.
Marj Carpenter isn't your average Big Spring reporter, her reach went all the way to the White House, where she had a close relationship with George and Barbara Bush.
She shared fond memories of George W. Bush when he was younger, and still receives Christmas cards from the former presidents.
"That was most thoughtful, and we appreciate it,” Carpenter said. “We are, of course delighted that the election is now over and we are able to get back to the job at hand. That one's not one that they send to everybody."
