FIRST ON CBS7: Midland Freshman student charged with making terroristic threat

MIDLAND, Tx. (KOSA) -- A student at Midland Freshman High School was charged with making a terroristic threat after a threatening Snapchat message circulated on social media.

According to Midland ISD, administrators at the school and MISD Police detained students in connection to the video and questioned them.

Only one student was arrested.

MISD says that no weapons were found on campus and no weapons were believed to be on campus.

A parent at Midland Freshman School tells CBS7 that a group of students posted a threat on Snapchat – and one of the people they threatened is her son. There were reports that a student had a gun on campus, but an MISD spokesperson says officers and staff did not find one,

Many students, however, are reporting that they did see a gun when a student dropped it on the floor.

Afterward, we’re told students started calling their parents to pick them up. We’re also told the school district did not send out a cell phone alert. We called several spokespeople at Midland ISD while this was happening and were told nothing was going on.
