Odessa's "Kiss and Kill" killer has died

ODESSA -- John Mack Herring, the man at the center of the "Kiss and Kill Murder" in 1961, died Saturday. He was 75.

Herring was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity after killing his ex-girlfriend Betty Williams. It's reported she asked him to do it.

The homicide was later dubbed the "Kiss and Kill Murder"

Many believe her ghost still haunts the halls of Odessa High School to this day.

Funeral arrangements are still pending according to Herring's obituary in the Odessa American.

Texas Monthly documented the case in 2006.
