UPDATE: Explosion Near Fort Stockton, Multiple Injured

A Pecos County Sheriff's Deputy said the explosion happened at a hunting camp when people tried to light a fire under the water heater boiler. There was an apparent gas leak inside the house which caused the explosion.

The injuries were non-life-threatening, according to the deputy. Five people were at the camp, three people were injured.


Multiple people are injured after a reported campsite explosion West of Fort Stockton in Pecos County near Hovey Road and I-10.

According to Pecos County Sheriff's Department Dispatch, one person was airlifted and three others were moved to the hospital.

Investigators remain on scene late into the night.
