WEST ODESSA -- UPDATE: Authorities confirm they searched a home in Odessa for the suspect of the drive-by, but found the home to be empty.

The search continues at this time.

An Ector County Sheriff's Office deputy and another driver have been hospitalized following the pursuit of a suspect in West Odessa.

According to ECSO, their deputies responded to a civil call Thursday morning in the 2500 block of Bonita Faye Avenue.

As deputies were on scene a drive-by shooting happened nearby, and deputies began to pursue the suspect.

No injuries were reported from the shooting.

During that pursuit the deputy was involved in a crash with another car that was not involved in the chase at the intersection of 26th Street and Redondo.

Both the deputy and driver of the car were taken to the hospital. ECSO tells CBS 7 that the deputy suffered minor injuries. The injuries of the driver are unknown but are believed not to be life-threatening.

Authorities are still searching for the suspect of the drive-by shooting at this time. The suspect's vehicle is described as a maroon 4-door pickup with heavy front-end damage.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Ector County Sheriff's Office at (432) 335-3050.

A large law enforcement presence is at a scene in Odessa. It is not clear at this time if it is connected to the search for the suspect.
