Driver arrested after crash leaves one person dead, four others hurt

ODESSA -- A driver has been arrested following a deadly crash that left one person dead and sent four others to the hospital on Sunday night.

Clark Arnold Beckett, 41, has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter, a 2nd Degree Felony, and with four counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a 2nd Degree Felony.

According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers responded to the area of Business 20 and Faudree Road at 8:17 p.m. for a report of a major crash.

At the scene police found a crash involving a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Chevrolet Impala.

The passenger of the Impala, 31-year-old Steve Hannabass of Odessa passed away at the scene. The driver and three passengers of the Tahoe were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say that the driver of the Impala, Beckett, was found to be intoxicated.

An investigation of the crash revealed that the Tahoe was traveling eastbound on Business 20 as the Impala was traveling westbound.

Police say that Beckett veered off the roadway and drove into oncoming traffic before he eventually crashed into the Tahoe.

Beckett was then charged and arrested accordingly.
