Victim identified in Upton County crash

UPTON COUNTY, Tx. (KOSA) -- Friday Update: New details have been released on Thursday's crash.

The victim in the crash has been identified as 24-year-old Oliver Rodriguez of Odessa.

According to DPS, their troopers were called to a crash on FM 1555 seven miles north of Rankin around 5:33 p.m.

When their troopers arrived at the scene they found a crash involving a truck and a Chevrolet Silverado.

The passenger of the Silverado, identified as Rodriguez, passed away at the scene.

An investigation of the crash revealed that the truck was traveling east while the Silverado was traveling west.

DPS says that one of the truck's tires blew out causing the driver to lose control. The truck then moved over into the westbound lane where it hit the Silverado.

At least one person is dead after a crash on RM 1555 at the county line between Reagan Co. and Upton Co., according to the Department of Public Safety.

DPS said the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The multiple-vehicle accident sent an unspecified number of people to the hospital with injuries, according to the department.
