City of Midland announces finalists for Police Chief

MIDLAND -- The City of Midland has named its finalists in the search for their next police chief.

According to a release, the following three candidates are up for the job:

-Seth Herman, Midland, Texas
-Jimmie Sevey, Nacogdoches, Texas
-Phillip Smith, Jr., Roswell, New Mexico

The three finalists were chosen from a total of 34 who applied for the position.

The city says that all three will be present on Tuesday, December 11 for interviews with members of law enforcement, city management and others.

That evening the candidates will be attending a community reception at the Midland Municipal Court from 5:30-8 p.m. The reception will be open to the public and opportunities will be provided to hear from each of the candidates and for the public to ask questions.

Seth Herman currently serves as the Interim Police Chief for the department and has held the role since former police chief Steve Henry was fired in April.
