Suspect held at gunpoint following stabbing in Andrews

ANDREWS, Tx. (KOSA) -- A suspect has been arrested after police say he stabbed a woman in the parking lot of the Andrews Post Office on Tuesday.

Cruzito Gutierrez, 21, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault against a family member with previous conviction.

According to the Andrews Police Department, their officers and deputies with the sheriff's office responded to the Post Office at 7:15 p.m. for a report of an altercation.

When officers arrived they found a suspect, identified as Gutierrez, being held at gunpoint by two bystanders. The men told police that Gutierrez had stabbed a woman and then threatened one of them with a knife.

Authorities found the victim, a 36-year-old woman, at the Allsup's at 800 North Main. She was taken to the hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Gutierrez was then charged and arrested.
