Alpine police identify body found on railroad tracks

ALPINE -- UPDATE: Police say they have identified the man's body and are working to notify next of kin.

The Alpine Police Department is looking to identify a man whose body was found on railroad tracks.

According to Alpine police, the body was reported to their department at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers found the body on the tracks near the railroad depot.

At this time police believe that the man appears to be a transient/train rider. No form of identification was found on his body and no cause of death has been released.

He is described as a white man who is around 60 years old and 5'9'' in height with a slender build. He has brown/gray hair with a beard and mustache.

The man was found wearing blue jean overalls, a plaid shirt and a grey sweater jacket. He was also carrying a green sleeping bag.
