Talk about a major error: Brewster County election workers miscounted the weekend's mayoral race ballots.
The Alpine Avalanche reports they miscounted so many ballots that the wrong man was elected mayor. The election’s office announced Saturday night that Jerry Johnson bested Andy Ramos in a close race.
However, as of Monday, Ramos was found to actually be the winner of the weekend election. He won by seven votes over Johnson.
Results will be official when votes are canvassed at Tuesday’s special city council meeting.
