Jakob joined the CBS 7 news team in July of 2018 and has since become the CBS7 Sports Reporter and Weekend Sports Anchor.

Born in Wisconsin, Jakob’s family moved to Georgetown, Texas when he was young and has lived there ever since. Although still loyal to the Packers and Badgers, he considers himself a Texan.

Jakob graduated from Baylor University in May 2018 with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Communications.

In Waco, Jakob reported and wrote for The Lariat student paper and co-founded the student-run Baylor Lariat Radio. On radio, Jakob did live play-by-play broadcasts of Baylor football and basketball games and co-hosted a weekly sports talk show.

During his time at Baylor, Jakob had the opportunity to intern for a summer at KXAN in Austin. He also spent a semester in New York City as an intern for CBS Sports, where he worked events like the Big Ten Tournament and Final Four.

If it wasn’t already apparent, Jakob is a sports junkie, and that’s usually what his free time is dedicated to. He also loves spending time with his family and friends.

In the Summer of 2019, Jakob was promoted to be the CBS7 Sports Reporter and Weekend Sports Anchor.

Jakob enjoys telling the stories of the people in the Permian Basin.

Feel free to send him sports story ideas on Facebook and Twitter (@Jakob_CBS7), or email him at jbrandenburg@cbs7.com
