Eduardo Huijon Jr. (also known as “Eddie”) is our newest CBS7 reporter, joining us in April 2021.

Eduardo is a Southern California native who grew up amongst the beach and orange groves in Orange County, California.

Inspired by Gwen Stefani’s roots in his home county since he was only five-years-old, Eduardo began to find a passion in acting and earned a certificate from Barbizon Hollywood at the Los Angeles Center Studios when he was 17. During his senior at Loara High School, he began reporting as the weatherman for the morning school announcements.

While attending Fullerton College he joined the Cinema-Radio-Television department and earned multiple associate degrees in Film, Television, and Electronic Media, Radio Broadcasting, Radio Production, Television/Film, and Communications: General. During his time there he was an on-air host for his community college’s radio station 90.1 FM KBPK.

After leaving Fullerton College, he transferred to San Francisco State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast & Electronic Communication Arts, with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism in December 2020. He was a student Multimedia Journalist for his university’s weekly newscast State of Events and was nominated for “Best On-Air Talent” for the department's annual festival B.E.C.A. Fest in May 2020.

While adventuring the big tech city of San Francisco as a student, Eduardo enjoyed hanging out at Mission Dolores Park, Crissy Fields, The Castro District, and Corona Heights Park. His favorite places to eat at in San Francisco are La Corneta Taqueria, Golden Boy Pizza, El Techo, Squat & Gobble, Uno Dos Tacos and La Mejor Bakery.

Whenever Eduardo gets to visit his home in Southern California, he enjoys spending time with all his relatives and going shopping with his mom. His favorite places in the SoCal area are Harriet's Rooftop, Zinqué, The Disneyland Resort, Strut, Banzai Bowl, The Filling Station, Laguna Beach, Ojai Ice Cream and Café Habana.

Huijon has had the opportunity to intern at Scriberr News as a News Writer and worked for The Associated Press as an Election Night Reporter (Stringer) for the 2020 Presidential Election in November 2020 at the Orange County Voting Center in Santa Ana, CA.

If you’re planning to visit Southern California or San Francisco in the future, Eduardo can recommend you some popular locations to check out!
