Police awaiting autopsy report of Hobbs baby
HOBBS, New Mexico (KOSA) - UPDATE: Hobbs Police say the results from the Office of the Medical Investigator have not yet been finalized.
The police say that a final determination may take up to 90 days due to the complexity of the OMI forensic investigation.
At this time, the Hobbs Police Department says it has completed all relevant interviews and available evidence collection. At this time, there have been no criminal charges filed. The Hobbs Police Department will wait for the OMI’s final determination before forwarding any recommendation to the District Attorney’s Office.
On Wednesday, A 16-year-old girl, with her mother, was being treated at Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital.
Hospital staff later discovered a dead baby in the bathroom of the girl’s hospital room.
Officers with the Hobbs Police Department were called to investigate.
The baby has been sent to Albuquerque for autopsy by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
