Presidio High School Heading To Nationals
ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - The Presidio High School Rocketry Club continues to reach for the stars and is competing again on the national level.
It’s competing in the American Rocketry Challenge taking place next week with the Aerospace Industries Association.
The Blue Devils are no strangers to success when it comes to the Rocketry Club.
Presidio high school principal, Hevila Ramos says the club has now transitioned into a full-on rocketry class.
Any Presidio High School student is eligible to take the class but must stay after school to participate in the competition.
“I was following in my sister’s footsteps. She had told me about the rocketry program and I never took her word up for it until I got into the program and started to see how things actually were and she was right. I eventually fell in love with not only rocketry but the people there, and it’s been an amazing experience and I have no regrets.”, says Yahir Brito.
As for the big competition next week, the team has to design and launch a rocket with one raw egg inside and they have to reach different altitudes and within specific times.
The national competition takes place in Rockdale, Texas and the Presidio students will compete amongst one-hundred other finalists.
