BIG SPRING, Texas (KOSA) - A man was killed after police say he got out of a car and was hit by a truck on U.S. Highway 87 in Big Spring.

The victim has been identified as Osvaldo Lopez, 21, of Brownsville, Texas.

According to the Big Spring Police Department, officers were called to an auto-pedestrian crash in the 3600 block of South U.S. Highway 87 at 9:24 p.m on Friday.

When police arrived, they found a man, identified as Lopez, lying in the southbound lanes. Lopez died from his injuries at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Lopez had been riding in a car driven by Ismael Moreno. Police say that Lopez and Moreno had gotten into an argument, and Moreno pulled the car over to the side of the road. Lopez then got out of the car and began to run across the highway when he was hit by a truck.

The investigation also found that Moreno had been driving while intoxicated, and he was charged and arrested. The driver of the truck that hit Lopez is not facing charges.
