ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - It’s safe to say that we all learned a lot in 2020. The UTPB basketball team is not exempt.

In a year full of cancellations, schedule changes, and quarantines... The falcons just wanted to play ball.

It took plenty of flexibility for the players, coaches and fans alike.

However, Coach Newman is confident that in the long run, it will make his team stronger - and build better men.

“We talk to the guys just about being able to, as we say, pivot, or be flexible and just be willing to adjust,” Newman said. “It also helps us really talk to these guys about life, honestly. One day they’re going to be a husband, or they’re going to be a father and what’s planned is not necessarily going to work out.”

The Falcons kick off 2021 Saturday as they take on Arkansas Fort Smith at home.
