Midland Health Department swamped with positive coronavirus cases
MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) - The Midland Health Department is four days behind contacting people who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to a city spokesperson.
Normally, workers make the call the day after they receive notification of a case.
Today the health department worked cases from Saturday, and has now decided it will not release a positive case total for the day until all lab results for that date are processed, according to the city spokesperson.
The change, the city says, may mean there will be days when no new positive case numbers will be released, depending on how backed up the health department is and how many new cases come in.
