TABC approves amendment to help bars open as restaurants
AUSTIN, Texas (KOSA) - The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has approved an amendment that will make it easier for bars to open as restaurants.
The decision was made at an emergency meeting Tuesday morning.
The new amendment will allow bars to re-open as restaurants whether or not they have commercial-grade kitchens.
Food that is made off-site can also be sold, and bars will be able to partner with food trucks.
Under Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order, bars that only sold alcohol had to close, but restaurants can operate at 50-percent occupancy.
