Odessa teacher arrested, accused of inappropriate relationship with student
ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - An Odessa teacher has been arrested after he allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a student earlier this year.
William Boone has been charged with Improper Relationship between an Educator and Student, a second-degree felony.
According to Ector County ISD, earlier this month two former students of Odessa Collegiate Academy reported to school officials that a teacher, identified as Boone, had been involved in an improper relationship with a student during the spring semester.
Boone was placed on administrative leave as ECISD police began their investigation.
On Tuesday, August 25, Boone was arrested and booked into the Midland County Jail.
"This is extremely disturbing," said ECISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Scott Muri. "We are angry. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. As a school district, we have taken steps to combat this. We require sexual harassment training each year, and this training includes very clear warnings of the consequences for employee-student relationships. There is no excuse for our employees to misunderstand the seriousness of these actions. We want you, our staff, our parents and our community to know we will continue to do everything we can to prevent this behavior."
Boone began teaching in ECISD in August 2000.
